How to Boost Your Immunity Naturally

When you fall sick more often or are allergic to certain weather conditions or food, one thing you may hear from most people is, “You have a weak immune system.” That’s because it’s your immune system that acts as a personal defense mechanism against illnesses. A weak immune system makes you more susceptible to infections and other health problems. But the good thing is, there are natural ways to improve your immunity. Here are some tips to boost your immunity naturally…

1. Eat a Balanced Diet : Cut down on carbohydrates and include more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein to your meals. Food rich in vitamins C and E, like oranges, spinach, papaya and almonds help boost your immunity. Also, zinc-rich food like nuts and seeds support immune cell function. Keep them handy and make it a habit to eat a handful of nuts and seeds daily.

2. Stay Hydrated : Water is necessary for your overall health. It helps carry nutrients to your cells and flushes out toxins from your body. It’s important to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily to stay hydrated and fit. You can also sip on herbal tea, coconut water or fruit-infused water daily to stay hydrated.

3. Get Enough Sleep : Believe it or not, your sleep cycle does play a major role in your overall well-being. Your body repairs and regenerates while you are asleep. Lack of sleep can weaken your immune system. Stick to a sleep cycle of minimum 7 hours every night to allow your body to recharge and heal.

4. Exercise Regularly : Not everyone likes going to the gym, so the best exercise to stay fit and feel fresh is walking, yoga or cycling. These exercises boost blood circulation and help your immune cells function well. No matter how busy you are, take 30 minutes out of your busy schedule at least 5 days a week and exercise.

5. Manage Stress : Stress suppresses your immune system and has negative effects on your mood and body. Living a stress-free life seems impossible in today’s time but you can surely balance it by practising meditation or deep breathing exercises to reduce stress and keep your immunity strong.

These simple tips can help you stay strong. Small, consistent changes in your daily routine can go a long way in keeping illnesses at bay. It’s said, ‘Take care of your body and it will take care of you.’
