Keeping yourself hydrated during summer is essential to beat the heat and maintain your energy levels. Dehydration can not only lead to fatigue and headaches but also other serious health issues. Here are some easy hacks to follow that will help you stay hydrated…
Always Start Your Day With Water : Make it a habit to begin your morning with a glass of water to replenish fluids lost overnight. Adding a slice of lemon or cucumber can help too. It adds flavour to the water and provides a refreshing start to your day.
Eat Water-Rich Food : Add fruits and vegetables high in water content like watermelon, cucumber, oranges and strawberries into your diet. They not only hydrate you but also supply essential vitamins and minerals. So incorporate them in your diet on a regular basis.
Carry a Water Bottle With You : Always keep a reusable water bottle with you. Make it a habit to keep sipping water throughout the day and consume a minimum of 2 litres of water each day, whether you’re at work, on field or out for a walk. If needed, set hydration reminders.
Try Infused Water : If you find sipping plain water boring, jazz it up by infusing it with fruits like berries, mint or citrus slices but do not add sugar. This will help you stay on track with your hydration schedule.
Avoid Dehydrating Drinks : Limit beverages like coffee, tea and alcohol, which can increase fluid loss. If you do consume them, balance them with extra water.
Hydrate Before and After Exercise : Sweating during workouts lowers your body’s fluids. Drink water before, during and after any physical activity to stay hydrated.
Listen to your body. Thirst, dry skin and dark urine are signs of dehydration. Keep these hydration hacks in mind to stay cool, refreshed and healthy during summer.
